It is supplied directly from a USB serial port, which is also used for communication with the PC. The device has a stable metal desktop stand with a card holder. The RUD-4-DES can be used as a card enrol reader for the access control system or any other application which requires a card reader. A card can be enrolled straight from the [PR Master](https://www.roger.pl/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=595:pr-master-system-management&catid=123:software&lang=en-GB) (version 4.4.6 or newer), [VISO](https://www.roger.pl/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=374:viso-st-viso-ex-application-for-racs-5-system-management-and-configuration&catid=105:software&lang=en-GB&Itemid=421) or using the [Roger MiniReader](https://www.roger.pl/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=553:roger-minireader-software&catid=141:administrator-readers&lang=en-GB&Itemid=473) application (version v1.1.12 or newer). RUD-4-DES can also provide a MIFARE card programming functionality, but in such cases [RogerVDM](https://www.roger.pl/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=378:rogervdm-windows-application-for-racs-5-device-setup-and-maintenance&catid=105:software&lang=en-GB&Itemid=421) application should be used.
