Configuration of PRT66EM terminal for simple standalone work

Description:
How to configure PRT62EM or PRT66EM terminal for simple standalone mode and how to program cards or key fobs?

Solution:

Prepare two unused cards which will be used for configuration.

The first step is to carry out Memory Reset procedure which erases whole memory of the reader, restores to default settings and enables to set terminal mode.

MEMORY RESET PROCEDURE AND SETTING OPERATING MODE:

  1. Remove all connections from CLK, IN1 and RTS lines,
  2. Connect CLK line (green wire) with IN1 line (yellow wire),
  3. Restart the reader (disconnect and connect power),
  4. While LED UNLOCKED (green) is flashing and accompanied with continuous sound disconnect CLK from IN1,
  5. When LED SYSTEM starts flashing enter three digits which will configure the reader for required operating mode; each digit is represented by number of times any card is read:
    - read the card 10 times and wait for double "beep",
    - read the card 3 times and wait for double "beep",
    - read the card 10 times and wait for double "beep",
  6. Read proximity card - it will be new MASTER card,
  7. Read the other proximity card - it will be new INSTALLER card,
  8. After this step the reader finishes the procedure of RESET procedure and restarts itself with new settings.

USER PROGRAMMING:

This mode is dedicated to managing users of the reader.

In order to add new user cards (which will be used for door opening) please do as follows:

  1. Set the reader to User Programming mode. To do this read MASTER card. When the reader enters User Programming mode LED OPEN (green) and LED STATUS (red) are ON,
  2. Read MASTER card one time and wait for confirmation - double "beep"; read MASTER card two times and wait for confirmation - double "beep" (this way function [12] is selected: Add NORMAL users with cards),
  3. Read new USER cards in sequence and wait for 20 seconds, the reader exits the function automatically but stays in programming mode. To exit programming mode read MASTER card twelve times or leave it for 120 seconds - it will exit programming mode automatically.

INSTALLER PROGRAMMING:

This mode is dedicated to managing functions of the reader.

In order to set the function for REL1 output do as follows:

  1. Enter Installer Programming mode. To do this read INSTALLER card. When the reader enters Installer Programming mode LED OPEN (green) and LED STATUS (green) are ON,
  2. Read the INSTALLER card six times and wait for confirmation (double beep); read the INSTALLER card seven times and wait for confirmation (double beep). This way function [67] is selected: Programming function for REL1 output,
  3. Read the INSTALLER card four times and wait for confirmation (double beep); read INSTALLER card one time and wait for confirmation (double beep). [41] - assign function for REL1 output switch - Door Lock/Exit, controls the lock which blocks/unblocks access, Door unlock time setting defines time for door open),
  4. After 180 seconds the reader will exit programming mode automatically and return to normal mode.
