Message Box "Communication port not opened" in Patrol Master

When Patrol II LCD is connected to the computer via USB cable a window is displayed with following info: "Communication port not opened". I cannot estabilish connection with the reader. How to solve the problem ? (concerns Patrol Master ver. 2.9)
